What Is USB Debugging Mode On Android?

you use an Android phone and you’ve searched forums for solutions to problems, you’ve probably heard the term “USB Debugging” every once in a while. You may even have seen it while looking through your phone’s settings. It sounds like a high-tech option, but it really isn’t; it’s quite simple and useful.
One beauty of Android is that it has a lot of built-in features, many of which are advanced. If you want to supercharge your phone with mods and whatnot, you can; if you want to use it just as it was out of the box, you can ignore the advanced stuff. USB Debugging is a feature that all users can benefit from, though, so you should know what it does and when to use it.

What Is USB Debugging Mode?

USB Debugging Mode is a mode that can be enabled in Android after connecting the device directly to a computer with a USB cable. The primary function of this mode is to facilitate a connection between an Android device and a computer with Android SDK (software development kit). As the name might suggest, Android SDK is a software suite that’s designed to aid in the development of Android apps.

Ever wondered how a programmer creates apps on the Android? They definitely don’t code them straight on the phone device! That would be nightmarish at best. Instead, they utilize the environment of the Android SDK to code apps on a computer, use USB Debugging Mode to transfer those apps to a device for testing.

usb debugging

But, again, here’s the takeaway: USB Debugging Mode establishes a direct connection between an Android device and a computer and readies it for deeper-level actions. That’s the important part.
In some versions of Android, the USB Debugging Mode feature may be called Developer Mode. With such a name, it can be easy (and reasonable) to think that you’ll never need to deal with this aspect of Android if you never plan on developing anything. That’s not exactly true.

Why Is USB Debugging Mode Important?

USB Debugging grants you a level of access to your device. This level of access is important when you need system-level clearance, such as when coding a new app. However, there are a few non-development-related benefits from this new level of access that can give you much more freedom of control over your device.
For example, with Android SDK, you gain direct access to your phone through your computer and that allows you to do things you normally couldn’t, like snag instant screenshots of your device or run terminal commands with ADB. These terminal commands can help you restore a bricked phone–a useful tool for any adventurous Android owner. Without it, you’d have to get a replacement phone.
android usb debugging

USB Debugging is also necessary if you ever want to root your Android device. Before an app like One-Click Root can dig into your system and deliver the exploit that roots the device, USB Debugging is necessary to allow that function in the first place.
Yes, the original intention for USB Debugging Mode was only meant for developers who needed to copy data between their computers and Android devices, to install apps on the phone without notifications, and to read log data off the phone. But even if you aren’t a developer, you’ll probably run into a few apps that require USB Debugging Mode to function properly, so this mode does affect you and you should know about it.

What You Need to Know About USB Debugging Mode

By this point, you may have noticed that USB Debugging isn’t used all too frequently. You’re right. This feature of Android isn’t something that you take advantage of on a daily basis unless you’re coding an app. However, when it does come in handy, it really saves you a lot of time, effort, and even money.
usb debugging

Therefore, it’s best to keep USB Debugging Mode disabled and only enable it when you really need it. When running an app, for example, it’ll let you know if it needs you to enable the mode before it can do anything. When that happens, you can enable it, let the app do its thing, then disable it again. Few apps will require your phone to constantly be in debugging mode.
Lastly, starting with Android 4.2, access to the USB Debugging Mode option has been hidden by default. I’m not entirely sure why the development team thought that move was necessary, but fortunately it’s not too much of a pain to get it visible again.

Conclusion

Just know that USB Debugging is not a super-high-tech feature that you need to be afraid of. Think of it as yet another tool that gives you full control over your device. This kind of power does invite abuse, though, so keep it disabled at all times and only enable it when you know you need it and you’ll be fine.
If you have any questions about USB Debugging, please ask in the comments. I’ll try my best to answer them.

History Of Keyboard

QWERTY was developed in 1875 by Christopher Sholes.
At the time typewriters were used exhaustively. And the older design of keyboard contained alphabets arranged in alphabetical manner.
abcd
This arrangement led to a bad typing experience because the levers and switches used inside the mechanical typewriter stuck frequently and jamming would occur when to nearby keys were pressed too quickly. This problem had only one remedy and that was not to type too quickly.
This became quite problematic and because of this C.L. Sholes rearranged the alphabets on the basis of the frequency in which two alphabets had greatest probability to appear together. This rearrangement was named as the QWERTY keyboard and it also solved the problems found in the typewriter.
Well this still does not explain why they are used even today so extensively. The reason is as in the past typewriters were used so much that people had the arrangements memorized and probably was better to leave the layout the way it was.
Even though we may not feel so, but some believe that in the electronic age where no jamming would occur in the modern keyboards, the QWERTY only slows down the typing speed since the frequently appearing letters are kept further and fingers have to travel quite longer distances to type, some new keyboards are being researched which can really exploit the use to thumbs while typing in smartphones and tablets namely the KALQ keyboards.

How to Find Nepal Telecom ADSL Expiration Date by SMS

Nepal Telecom's (NT / People usually call it NTC) ADSL service is the most widely used internet service in Nepal. While renewing this internet service it is possible to pay for a single month or more than one month. After renewing this service, at times it is impossible to track the expiry date of your NTC ADSL. You forget the date or you lose the renewal receipt quite easily. This mostly happens if you pay for more than a month.
It is not convenient to find out that your internet has expired as a surprise. It is better to know the renewal date so that you can pay for it on time. There are services provided by Nepal Telecom which allows us to query the expiration date. One way to do it is via SMS. This method is quick and painless.
To check the expiry date of your ADSL Package:
Send an SMS message to 1400 in the following format:
ADSL <Your Landline Phone Number with Area Code>

Just in case: Your Landline with the ADSL connection should be entered.

For example in your SMS message compose box of your phone type:

ADSL 011401019

and then send it to 1400.
After your message has been delivered, you will receive a text back with your ADSL internet expiration date and phone number for confirmation. This usually happens within a few moments.

How To creat a folder without name

DO you know you can creat a folder without name . Have you ever think about this . or do you know early .If you dont know then its fine i am here to teach you .

Just follow the steps as given below :-

1) Select any file or folder.

2) Right click on it, select 'Rename' or simply press 'F2'.

3) Press and hold the 'Alt' key. While holding the Alt key, type numbers '0160' from the numpad.

Note :- Type the numbers '0160' from the numpad, that is, the numbers present on the right side of the keyboard.
Don’t type the numbers which are present on top of the character keys.

4) Press Enter and the nameless file or folder will be created.

Reason :- The file or folder that seems nameless is actually named with a single space.

But what if you want to create another nameless file or folder in the same directory ?
For this you will have to rename the file with 2 spaces.
Just follow the steps given below :-

1) Select file, Press 'F2'.

2) Hold 'Alt' key and type '0160' from the numpad.

3) Release the 'Alt' key. Now without doing anything else, again hold 'Alt' key and type '0160'.

4) Press 'Enter' and you will have second nameless file in the same directory.

5) Repeat step 3 to create as many nameless files or folders in the same directory.

Google shuts news service in Spain

Google is closing its news service in Spain this month to avoid paying publishers for their content.

The clash reflects a growing rift between European policymakers and Silicon Valley over issues relating to competition, copyright and privacy.
From January, Spanish publishers will be required to charge news aggregators for displaying their content.
"It's with real sadness that we'll remove Spanish publishers from Google News and close Google News in Spain," head of Google News Richard Gingras wrote in a blog post.

The new law meant Spanish news outlets would have to charge if the service showed "even the smallest snippet from their publications," he said.

Now You Wont Found Amazon in Google play store

Google (GOOGL, Tech30) is typically lax about the kind of apps that live in its app store, avoiding the standoffs with app developers that Apple (AAPL, Tech30) is so well known for.
But Amazon's addition of its own app store within its main Android app appears to have ruffled Google's feathers.
In September, Amazon (AMZN, Tech30)
began allowing customers to download apps from within its Android application. Essentially what Amazon was trying to do was infiltrate the Google Play store with its own app store. That's a no-no in Google's playbook.
Normally, Google makes customers jump through hoops in order to install apps from rival app stores.

Amazon's workaround -- by including its app store from within its own app -- led Google to pull Amazon's app from its Play Store search listings.

Android 5.0 Coming To Samsung Galaxy Phones

The Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note a pair of area unit on a brief list of devices reported to check a robot five.0 lime Pie update, in step with Samsung Mobile.
A select few members of the Samsung Galaxy smart phones are expected to check an update to subsequent version of robot, plausible to be OS version five.0, referred to as lime Pie.
A “prelist” of updates apparently obtained by the mobile journal suggests that the soon-to-be-released Samsung Galaxy S4 are joined by four different models to receive the forthcoming robot five.0 OS, together with varied versions of the Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy Note a pair of, Galaxy Note ten.1 tablet, and therefore the Galaxy Note eight.0 tablet. The Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note eight.0 have nonetheless to launch.

The prelist will spell out variety of Samsung models that will not see any updates on the far side robot four.2.2 jelly egg. Devices found on this specific list embody the Samsung Galaxy S2, the Galaxy Note, and a range of different models with restricted market availableness.
Other handsets that may be left behind area unit the Galaxy Ace, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy Young, and Galaxy Premier. Most of those devices don’t seem to be specifically powerhouses, however one may assume that least the newer ones, just like the Galaxy Grand Duos and Galaxy X cowl a pair of may well be eligible. However, since they are lower-end models, Android 5.0 may pass them by.
It is price noting that this prelist has not been confirmed, which things of this nature area unit subject to alter. Google is anticipated to announce subsequent build of robot at Google I/O 2013, that takes place in might.

Apple malware affects mostly Chinese users

Mac and iPhone The malware initially gets onto an iOS device via a USB link to an infected Mac computer

The hackers fooled users into approving a bogus enterprise certificate

Malware has bypassed Apple's safety controls by taking advantage of a process used by employers to add apps to workers' iPhones and iPads.
US-based Palo Alto Networks said WireLurker appeared to have originated in China and was mostly infecting devices there.
The malware first targets Mac computers via a third-party store before copying itself to iOS devices.
Researchers warn it steals information and can install other damaging apps.
Apple hack
"WireLurker is unlike anything we've ever seen in terms of Apple iOS and OS X malware," said Ryan Olson, Palo Alto Network's intelligence director.
"The techniques in use suggest that bad actors are getting more sophisticated when it comes to exploiting some of the world's best-known desktop and mobile platforms."
WireLurker has the ability to transfer from Apple's Mac computer to mobile devices through a USB cable.
The security firm said the malware was capable of stealing "a variety of information" from mobile devices it infects and regularly requested updates from the attackers' control server.
"This malware is under active development and its creator's ultimate goal is not yet clear," the company added.
Apple has issued a brief statement.
"We are aware of malicious software available from a download site aimed at users in China, and we've blocked the identified apps to prevent them from launching," it said.
"As always, we recommend that users download and install software from trusted sources."
Work apps
According to Palo Alto Networks,WireLurker was first noticed in Junewhen a developer at the Chinese firm Tencent realised there were suspicious files and processes happening on his Mac and iPhone.
Further inquiries revealed a total of 467 Mac programs listed on the Maiyadi App Store had been compromised to include the malware, which in turn had been downloaded 356,104 times as of 16 Oct.
Infected software included popular games including Angry Birds, The Sims 3, Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 and Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
Once the malware was on the Mac, it communicated with a command-and-control server to check if it needed to update its code, and then waited until an iPhone, iPad or iPod was connected.
When an iOS device was connected the malware would check if it was jailbroken - a process used by some to remove some of Apple's restrictions.
If it was jailbroken, WireLurker backed up the device's apps to the Mac, where it repackaged them with malware, and then installed the infected versions back on to the iOS machine.
If it was not jailbroken - which is the case for most iOS devices - WireLurker took advantage of a technique created by Apple to allow businesses to install special software on their staff's handsets and tablets.
MacWirelurker hides its code inside software that is initially downloaded to a Mac computer
This involved placing infected apps on the device that had been signed with a bogus "enterprise certificate" - code added to a product that is supposed to prove it comes from a trustworthy source.
To ensure the devices accepted this certificate, a permissions request was made to pop up on the targeted iOS device on the user's first attempt to run an infected app.
It simply asked for permission to run the app, but if the user clicked "continue" it installed code called a "provisioning profile", which told the iOS device it could trust any other app that had the same enterprise certificate.
Palo Alto Networks remarked that while this technique was not a new concept, it was the only known example of it being used to target non-jailbroken iOS devices in the wild.
Once active, the malware is used to upload information about the machine to the hackers, including phone numbers from its Contacts app, and the user's Apple ID.
Different versions of WireLurker also automatically installed new apps on the devices - including a video game and a comic book reader.
While these were innocuous, experts warn they could represent a test run for other more damaging software.
"People have got very used to iOS being secure and there is a danger they may be complacent about the risk this presents," said Prof Alan Woodward, from the University of Surrey.
"Now Apple knows what it's looking for, it should be able to shut it down relatively easily. But it shows that people are trying to attack Apple's operating system and the firm can't take security for granted."
Under attack
News of the attack comes after tech giant Apple's iCloud storage service in China was attacked by hackers trying to steal user information just last month.
Chinese web monitoring group Greatfire.org said that hackers intercepted data and potentially gained access to passwords, messages, photos and contacts. They believed the Beijing government was behind the move.
But the Chinese government denied the claims and was backed by state-owned internet provider China Telecom, which said the accusation was "untrue and unfounded".
China is home to the world's biggest smartphone market and Apple saw its iPhone sales there jump 50% in the April to June quarter from a year earlier.
To minimise the risk of attack, Palo Alto Networks has recommended that users:
  • Do not download Mac apps from third-party stores
  • Do not jailbreak iOS devices
  • Do not connect their iOS devices to untrusted computers and accessories, either to copy information or charge the machines
  • Do not accept requests for a new "enterprise provisioning profile" unless it comes from an authorised party, for example the employer's IT department

Facebook launches Ebola fundraising campaign

The social network, whose founder Mark Zuckerberg announced a personal $25 million donation to help battle the deadly disease, will make it easier for others to donate as well.
But while Zuckerberg and some other billionaires and companies have made some big donations, small donations from the general public have lagged far behind the $1 billion the United Nations estimates it will take to fight the crisis.
Zuckerberg's donation went to the Centers for Disease Control Foundation. But Facebook is seeking donations for three other groups: the International Medical Corps, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and Save the Children. Facebook's 1.3 billion users will see a message at the top of their news feed with an option to donate to those groups.
The company will also team with UNICEF to provide information through Facebook to people in targeted regions about Ebola symptoms and treatment. Additionally, it will team with NetHope to provide communications services to medical and aid workers in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
"In times of crisis, people turn to Facebook (FBTech30) to learn about what's happening, share their experiences and offer support," said the company's statement. "If not addressed, the Ebola epidemic could become a long-term global health crisis. Together with our partners, we're hopeful that by offering people the tools they need, we can all help fight this disease."

Google wants to match your Ebola donation

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)

Google is offering to give $2 for every $1 donated in a new fundraiser to fight Ebola.

The goal is to raise a total of $7.5 million for nonprofits working to stop the spread of the deadly virus in West Africa.
Google launched a website Monday where anyone can contribute as little as $10 or as much as $1,000. The company will then match each dollar donated with two more.
The proceeds will be evenly distributed among four charities: Doctors Without Borders, International Rescue Committee, Partners in Health and Save the Children. Google said it will pay all transaction fees so that the full amount is donated to the charities.

In addition, Google (GOOG) plans to contribute $10 million to seven charities involved in Ebola relief.
Larry Page, one of the co-founders of the internet search engine, said his family fund will donate another $15 million.
"Our hearts go out to everyone whose lives have been touched by this tragedy," Page wrote in a blog post.

As of last week, health officials estimate that more than 13,000 people have been infected with Ebola and 4,818 people have died from the infectious disease, primarily in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Executives in the technology industry have been among the biggest donors since the worst outbreak of Ebola started about six months ago.
Facebook (FBTech30) founder Mark Zuckerberg pledged in October to give $25 million, while Microsoft (MSFTTech30) co-founder Paul Allen has committed $100 million to the cause.

Facebook new Messenger service reaches 500m users

Social networking giant Facebook said its new messaging service now has more than 500 million users worldwide.
Users of the separate Messenger app have more than doubled from 200 million in April, the company said.
Facebook had faced a backlash after it announced it would be forcing users to download the app to send private messages to friends over the main Facebook service.
Users started being pushed to download the app - launched in 2011 - in July.
"Messaging is an important part of how people stay connected and since Messenger launched in 2011 we've been passionate about giving people a faster and more expressive way to communicate," said Facebook's director of product management Peter Martinazzi in a blog on Thursday.
Facing criticism
In April, Facebook had told users that they would need to download a separate app to allow them to send videos, make free calls and chat with friends.
But, the tech giant was widely criticised by users that did not like the concept of leaving the Facebook website to another service to send messages.
That led to the iOS App Store review score for the recent version of the Messenger app to fall to one and half stars.
"Messenger was the first of our standalone apps, and unlike our core Facebook apps, it focused on one use case - messaging," Mr Martinazzi said.
"We've also continued to improve speed and reliability. Updates to Messenger ship every two weeks so it continues to evolve and improve," he added, showing that Facebook plans to stick with the app despite the negative feedback.
Meanwhile, Facebook has been trying to get on the forefront of mobile messaging, and finalised a deal to buy popular messaging service WhatsApp last month for about $22bn (£13.8bn).
The mobile messaging app had more than 600 million monthly users at the time of the acquisition.
